 What can I say about cardboard? Gerbils LOVE it! They shred it up and use it to help make their nests nice and fluffy. You will need to start saving all your toilet paper and paper towel rolls and you will soon realize that you can't use toilet paper and paper towel fast enough! Gerbil demand for cardboard is very high. You can also save cereal boxes, kleenex boxes, cracker boxes, etc. Any kind of cardboard will be greatly appreciated by your new little friends. Just be sure not to give them any kind of cardboard that has a waxy coating or has any other special kind of treatment done to it. Even though the gerbils are not actually eating the cardboard, it is just a safety measure to make sure they do not ingest anything harmful.
